MF wanted to watch a show together and picked Camp Rock 2. Every song that came on, she had to get up and dance.
She can't back dow.

Evolution of Dance
I've been going to Trivia on Tuesday nights. Last week, there was a category about viral videos. One of the questions was "this video features a guy in an orange Crush t-shirt dancing his way from the 1950s to the 2000s, what is the name of the video?" I didn't do well at the category and I'm glad my brother was with me because he rocked it. He knew that the video was called "Evolution of Dance" The trivia was bagging on it and said that it was lame he didn't know why it was viral so of course I had to come home and watch it. It was actually pretty awesome!
If you haven't seen it, take the 6 minutes involved and watch it. The best part is that he took the time to learn the dances.
He also made a second video, which isn't as long or quite as good as the first. It is still worth watching
Like all good viral videos, this one has some parodies.
This one isn't the best out there but big dudes gettin' down and the Thriller Dance always make me laugh
This is the BEST parody out there. Be sure to stay tuned for YMCA! Of course the end is funny as well.

Strange Mother's Day gifts
I had intended to blog about the Mother's Day gift MT made at school but I never got the picture scanned (which you HAVE to see because it is so cute) and before I could get around to it, I got a new follower on Twitter. I remain curious how some of these people find me and what key words I'm using that clue them to follow me (this one made sense, it was parenting but I'm still curious). Anyway, I went to check them out and the one and only post was a gift buying guide for LINGERIE for Mother's Day.
Ok, first of all, if your kids are getting you this stuff, there is something way wrong with the WHOLE picture! Considering, they include lingerie buying tips for guys, I'm assuming they are targeting dads getting it for their wives. Again, I'm bothered because I don't think that dads should be getting their wives presents for Mother's Day. Helping the kids pick out presents? Sure. Buying a gift from the family? Fine. Buying your wife lingerie? Not so much.
I've wracked my brains trying to think of ONE of my friends that would want $100 (minimum, some of the stuff was as much as $400) underwear, instead of almost anything else, for Mother's Day. I mean think of all the pedicures you could get for $100! Not that I want a pedicure either. RF bought me a new telephoto lens for my camera, which made me very happy!
In case this idea doesn't disturb you, here the video with the buying guide

Music suggestions
Ladies and gents, I'm asking for music recs.
This
is my new absolute favorite song. I LOVE it and I listen to it all the time. Angry (not angsty, which is totally different) girl rock makes me happy!
So I'm asking all of you for suggestions of songs along these lines. I know there are songs that I like but I'm drawing a blank and "angry girl" isn't a genre that is really searchable. :)
PS, this is the same band that did the Twilight songs, which are kind of "meh" and definately NOT what I'm looking for.
Thanks

You know they die, right?
So I like the song "Love Story" by Taylor Swift
If you don't know, the lyrics are
"Little did I know
That you were Romeo; you were throwing pebbles,
And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet."
And I was crying on the staircase,
begging you, 'Please, don't go.'"
And I said,
"Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone.
I'll be waiting; all there's left to do is run.
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
It's a love story - baby just say 'Yes.'"
The other day, it was on the radio and RF says "Uh, how far do you want to go with this Romeo and Juliet theme? You know they die right?" But the thing about Romeo and Juliet is that it is supposed to be the ultimate love story. They were willing to die instead of be apart.
Personally, I think that it is the ultimate in stupidity. I remember reading it in high school and how all the girls were ga-ga over the the thought of someone loving them enough to kill themselves. I always just rolled my eyes at them and maintained my low opinion of the idiots I went to school with.
I never understood the motivation of R&J. Why did she take the fake poison? If she was old enough to marry, why didn't she tell her parents to suck it, she wasn't marrying Paris? Or why didn't she just suck it up and marry him and have a wild affair with Romeo like every upper class person in the world? (if you've read either "Sex with Kings" or "Sex with the Queen", you'll know what I'm talking about).
And when he thought she was dead, why was his only course of action to kill himself? Had he never heard of grief and maybe suffering through and getting on with his life? I get it. He couldn't bear the thought of life without her but dude, could he be anymore melodramatic?
The only death in the whole thing I even sort of understood was her actually killing herself after she took the fake poison and he died. It was totally her fault that he died (obviously, he did it to himself but if she hadn't been stupid and taken the fake poison, he wouldn't have felt compelled, thus her fault) Dying was an acceptable punishment for her stupidity in the whole thing.
Big thanks to Quigs for correcting my memory about the sequence of events in the story. It has been awhile since I read it (either Freshman or Sophomore year of high school) and obviously, I didn't like it much so I didn't retain the exact details

Hell has frozen over
And if you look at the weather, you will see that Central Illinois has as well. Because of the deep freeze, we are hanging out at home today and I was playing *GASP* Christmas Music! Of course it was Trans-Siberian Orchestra's Carol of the Bells
and I followed it up with Green Day's Minority
but hey, take what you can get LOL

I'm Batman
Mommy Schiff has a post about her kids being various fictional characters. TB went through this phase but he was never really attached to anyone name. He used his when he would get in trouble and I would say "TB, quit jumping on the couch. "I'm not TB, I George of the Jungle" jump jump jump "Dude, I so don't care who you are, get off the couch!"
MT, on the other hand, is quite attached to her alter ego. She is Batman. She will insist that she be called Batman, no matter whether it is to get out trouble or if you are just chatting with her. She is so insistant about it that she asked her preschool teachers to call her Batman. The teacher sort of smiled at her and shrugged so I don't know if they do or not but she hasn't complained about it so eithr they are or she hasn't thought to freak about it :)
Everytime she claims to be Batman, I can't help but think of this commercial. I used to LMAO about it before (Snickers had some really great commericials during that era), but now it is that much more funny. :)

For whatever reason, the video won't imbed so click the link to see what I'm talking about
