Political Propaganda

If you have a child in a Champaign county public school (not just unit 4, but all of Champaign county) or will have a child in a Champaign county public school, you should check out theChampaign County Class website for information about a referendum on the ballot to increase sales tax in Champaign County. Most of the districts are planning to use the sales tax increase (which applies to all people shopping in the county, not just homeowners like property tax, includind all the students at the U of I) to decrease property taxes so the increase should even out for homeowners. Champaign is planning to build a new school in Savoy, increase seats at one school and remodel all of the older schools to bring them up to current standards. They are planning to make them more energy effcient (sp?), which will save money in the long run.

Many schools in this district are so far behind the times that this something they really need. I urge you to vote yes to supporting area schools when you cast your vote on Nov 4th.

Back to your regularly scheduled drivel, thanks for reading.

You know I'm all for this one! If it times out right, Bubba will be in one of the first classes at the Savoy school.

Not that I'm voting yes for purely selfish reasons or anything. ;)

What I love is that it's county-wide. It fixes school infrastructure in Fisher, Tolono, Mahomet... not just in Champaign-Urbana.
