You're getting the boot

Back in June, we went to Turkey Run. While we there, my mom stepped off a rock and wrenched her ankle/foot. She limped around on it for awhile but it never seemed to get better. Around the middle of August, she got a boot put on it. Before then, she saw the docs at Convient care, her doctor and a podietrist. While she wore the boot, it was better but when she took it off, it hurt just as much to walk as it did before.

They wanted to do an MRI on her foot to see if she tore the tendon but because of bullet fragments in her chest (she was shot, accidentally, when she was a child), they couldn't do it so they decided on a CAT scan instead. She got her results back yesterday.

She gets to wear the cast for 3-4 weeks. The worst part is that she can't walk on it AT ALL!! They gave her crutches but because of her carpel tunnel surgery 3 years ago, she can't bear that weight on her wrists so she got a scooter instead.

The kids think it is awesome and she told them that they could have scooter races in the parking lot next week.

Poor Nonni. I hope she heals up nice and quick, in time for Halloween. :)

And I think it's funny that you blog about your mom, but don't mention that RF is sick. LOL

So apparently, I haven't told that story, based on the reactions to it :)

When my mom was about 6, her Dad had been hunting and when he came home, he was cleaning his gun. He thought it was unloaded, but apparently it wasn't and he shot my mom and her sister with it. She spent quite a bit of time in the hospital in an oxygen tent and they deemed it safer to leave it than remove it. It has never caused her problems but it sure freaks out new X-ray techs :)
