First, the plea. If any of you aren't currently saving Box Tops, would you consider saving them for us? They are pretty easy, just buy the item that has the little coupon on it then rip the coupon part off and drop it in a bag. When you get some, call me and I'll pick them up. No trimming required even :)
That said, I've been trimming Box Tops for the last 2 hours and I'm SICK of it! I volunteered to help re-trim the ones that were turned in for our end of the year contest and I ended up with a lot of tops to trim. I've worked on it a couple of times for a few minutes at a time but not made a lot of headway. The coordinator called me today and asked when I was getting them done so it was time to get my butt in gear, since I promised to have them done by Thursday. A couple of points for Box Tops collectors. I HATE HATE HATE the plastic ones. Like the ones on paper plates. They are terrible to trim because they stretch and tear and just generally suck. Next, do your school a favor and either trim them within an inch of their lives or don't trim them at all. Seriously, the ones that are half assed trimmed are worse than either of the others. At least the ones that are untrimmed are easy to hold on to, to actually cut. Obviously, the ones that are trimmed way down need nothing done to them and are, by far, the easiest to deal with :)
Now, I need to finish my show and get to bed since I'm going to work out with Quigs in the am :)

We've been collecting for school, but I never knew they needed to be so precisely trimmed.
I don't know about other schools, I just know that ours wants them trimmed so precisely to save on shipping. You wouldn't think that a little extra would make that big of a difference but when you send in a thousand or more, each with a little extra, the cost does add up.
Honestly, I'm sure that most schools just appreciate that you are saving them for them and will do whatever trimming is needed to get them how they want them. They have parents like me that will do them, then gripe about it LOL
I hear you. I always trim mine because a friend was our box top coordinator at school and she could've written the same post.
I've been wondering if I should be saving those things for someone...now I've got someone to give them to. :) We'll start a little baggie of neatly trimmed Box Tops for you Freak.
Yes, I too have a million things in my pantry that have those damn box tops on them. Any specific time you need them by?
No specific time. They usually run a "back to school" contest in about September so by then would be good but I can turn them in anytime before the end of the school year :)
LL and MommySchiff, the box tops are due for the contest on Sept 26th. If you could email me with a time that I could pick up the ones you guys were saving that would be great. Even if you want to just stick them in your mailbox and email me directions to your house, I can get them sometime this week.
Thanks again guys for helping out :)
